How not to market Delphi
The curious Embarcadero mailing list, no discounts for cursed customers, spotlight on library of the day?
Embarcadero curious mailing list
After licensing Delphi, there’s a checkbox to subscribe to a marketing and sales mailing list. All the promotions in that mailing list, cater to new customers! There is scant evidence of any discounts available for renewing software assurance - unless you want to renew for multiple years.
Shouldn’t the marketing be more public - such as adding automatic discounts to Embaracdero’s on-line store on Black Friday?
It makes no sense to subscribe to an email marketing subscripton after-the-fact when you don’t offer discounts on renewals!
How to market to Delphi developers
Here’s how I would do it.
Give 3, 5, 7, 10+ year loyalty discounts. Somebody paying the same subscription over and over again, should get possibly 3, 5, 7, 10+ years loyalty rewards or discounts. What do you think?
Give amnesty to Delphi Enterprise, Delphi Architect customers who renew late. These customers are paying in thousands, not hundreds.Stop harassing customers with compliance letters. Why don’t Embarcadero offer a sales call, or consultant call them, and ask them how Embarcero’s other tools can help them?
Sue fake resellers and websites that resell VCL and FMX libraries.
Embarcadero can pay 3,000 hours+ (eg - 3,000 hours x US$40/hour) to “Software Assurance Compliance Specialists”. Embacardo can take years-long legal action, but can’t seem to be bothered to find out website owners who sell c***k and fake software to unsuspecting customers.
Since Embaracdero is part of BSA, they should take note from RIAA lawyers. The RIAA lawyers goes after websites, not customers!Market Delphi Library of the day… maybe there’s not enough libraries to market - so maybe, make it - library of the week, or library of the month (12 promotional VCL or FMX libraries). One wonders if GetIT can be made into a library store, like the Unreal Asset Store? Embcadero can take a 30% cut… and maybe offer a moderated forum for licensed customers?
What do you think of Embarcadero’s marketing?
