Why you are still using Delphi? I too, would stay clear of it. No clear path for decades, no major improvements. They kicked (or let them be bribed away) all knowledgeable programmers out back in the late '90's and they had domain knowledge and skills. Programmers behind the language are the real asset, not Delphi. And as such we see the result. Lacking mediocre language that feeds of decade old customers legacy. Sad.
I have old apps. I am trying to migrate them... slowly by slowly...
