Lua4Delphi Vaporware
Several customers did not receive any product despite successful crowdfunding.
LaKraven’s Lua4Delphi raised more than US$8,000+ in funding. Months later…
Open-source Gripes
Nobody except the author SS contributed to Lua4Delphi. SS started to lash out on others.
“The idea of Open Source is that you contribute to the development so that everyone, including yourself, benefits. Well, in theory that sounds great, but in practise what you end up with is people treating you like a slave. Lazy bastards who expect you (as the project’s founder) to do all the work, so that they can make money from your time and effort. That’s called exploitation, and I’m not being exploited by you people anymore!
The Delphi community is dead, killed by the greedy assholes who have gotten so used to every piece of the puzzle being made freely available that they cannot be bothered to lift a finger for themselves. Not all of you, just enough that it justifies my decision to cease all free/open source development forever.”"

LaKraven is a victim of Embarcadero’s business policies1, massive software piracy2 and non-existent customer-base3.
Ending his blog
“Discussion on my company’s development projects will no longer be available. Products are now being made entirely in secret, and no product will be announced or discussed until it is released and available! This will end the ceaseless whining from ungreatful people who treat me like dirt and expect the service afforded a customer for something I’ve made (or am making) for free! There can be no demand for a product nobody knows exists.. and this will leave my team and I free to actually develop this stuff, rather than responding to abusive comments from ungreatful people.”
Why all the whining anyway?
If you think you can make these products faster, get off your fat lazy arse and make them yourself! Stop bitching to me because something you’re getting for free isn’t ready when you want it to be!
Don’t bother triyng to send me messages attmepting to change my mind… this decision really is final. Don’t use what you consider scare-tactics like “saying stuff like this will alienate clients/customers” because, frankly, I don’t give a fuck! My clients appreciate the work I do, they treat me with more respect and dignity than many of you have, and they understand the realities of business…
So… this is the final post I’ll be making! Hope you enjoyed it!
Comments are disabled, by the way! Go whine somewhere else!
It’s nearly a decade now…
Have you seen any video or source-code of L4D?
There’s a bare-bones Youtube video of LaKraven demonstrating Lua4Delphi.
Several of his customers have posted on-line asking for updates on Lua4Delphi.
The accusation of selling vaporware is based on evidence - successful crowdfunding, no setup of final product.
Delphi-based Lua integrations are toxic. The last updates to several Delphi Lua integrations are over 5+ years old.
